Project workshop by EIC Pathfinder project rePowerSiC which is about developing a structure using silicon carbide for energy conversion for high power laser transmission (satellites, drones, sensors in remote areas, etc).
The converter base material is fabricated using Close Space PVT. The future production is challenged by that the PVT manufacturing has matured and today wafer manufacturing is not profitable. The CS-PVT faces same risk. A possible way forward is to add values.
Deeptech and space technologies are characterized by long transition from research to market. The duration is longer than a single project. The digital transition is entering as demand driven requirement by regulations such as digital product passport, as well as being an enabler for new business models and sustainability development which can include values and assets which align with economic growth and profitable pathways.
The key is to have relevant data, and share in ways which create values and assets. This is unique for each case, technology and market. Relevant data is a challenge in earlystage technologies. Often first steps are related to use of machine learning and AI. But there is more that can be a part of the future steps.
For those interest in a community related to data challenge and opportunities, the data consideration has been addressed in previous webinar on “Machine Learning before machine learning” and “Strategic AI: Turning Research Knowledge into Real-World Impact”. The webinar series is a part of IW-SiC theme “Digital Transition for Green Technologies” that has the intention to build a community which supports each other to understand about implementation of a digital transformation with the technologies.
The purpose of the workshop is to share experiences and insights, as well as ideas how the data-driven value creation can be facilitated before the data is available.
